Math Class Needs A Make-Over Video1 min read

Why does everyone think they are bad at math? It’s like an epidemic in our country. Just saying the word math can make some people get anxiety.

I have to admit I was raised hating math too. Let me clarify. I loved thinking, but I hated memorizing formulas and procedures. I didn’t see the point. In fact, even though I was in advanced placement in almost every class offered, I still didn’t really feel like I knew what I was doing in math. That is different now.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I still don’t have all the formulas memorized. I just see math differently. Math is about what your brain does and can do. It isn’t about remembering what someone elses brain did.

My good friend and math guru, Emily Dyke, shared this spot on video about math and the need for an adjustment in how students and teachers view learning math. Take a look and let me know what you think. I thought it was pretty inspiring.
